The Wayuu People

They are a Native American ethnic group of the La Guajira Peninsula, in northernmost part of Colombia and Venezuela, also known as the people of sand, sun and wind. Their language is called Wayuunaiki and they practice their own religion called Maleiwa (god). The roles of the Wayuu men are hunting, fishing and farming and women are in charge of weaving, taking care of the family and most business affairs.
